Private Company Director Magazine Launches
The premiere edition of Private Company Director, a new magazine designed to focus specifically on the governance of closely-held, family-controlled and private equity-owned companies, is now in the mail to a select group of private company owners, shareholders and directors. The magazine will also come to subscribers of Family Business Magazine and Directors & Boards.
The contents of the premiere issue are built around in-depth coverage of the various sessions conducted at our second annual Private Company Governance Summit, held May 7-9, 2014 in Washington, DC.
The magazine (and its related website, www.privatecompanydirector.com, and monthly e-newsletter) comes from the publishers of Directors & Boards and Family Business Magazine. Directors & Boards is the only independently owned and operated magazine serving the information needs of public company board members. Family Business Magazine is the leading publication focused on multi-generational family-owned enterprises.
For many years, weâve been aware of an information void on the governance of privately held companies. Both Directors & Boards and Family Business Magazine have covered private company governance extensively, but this is not the primary focus of each publication. We launched the Private Company Governance Summit in 2013 in partnership with the fine people at Deloitte Growth Enterprise Services to help address this void. Deloitteâs early belief in and support of our efforts to serve private company owners and board members was key in the success that the Private Company Governance Summit has become.
Along with Deloitte, the following companies have supported our efforts: Heidrick & Struggles, Diligent Board Member Services, The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP and The Family Business Consulting Group. Weâve also had the support of the University of Marylandâs Robert H. Smith School of Business Directorâs Institute.
These companies, along with the incredible and talented speakers at our Summits, and the engaged and thoughtful audiences, have helped propel the thought leadership on the unique issues of governing a private or family owned company that informs this first issue of Private Company Director magazine.
I welcome your input on our efforts. What information do you need? How can we provide it to you in the most effective way? Email me at email@example.com.
And we hope to see you and your colleagues at the 3rd iteration of the Private Company Governance Summit, to be held May 13-15, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington, DC.
